The guest parking situation has improved somewhat at luna and luna-vista. Guests are now able to call an on duty concierge by buzzing in at the entrance to the guest parking lot. After parking, they can walk to the underground entrance to the building that they wish to visit.
If there is no concierge on duty at the building they are visiting, they will be redirected to the other building to get a parking pass.
Luna Vista seems to always have a concierge on duty, so you can save footsteps by always going there to get a pass, regardless of which building you’re actually visiting.
I just visited the Concord City Place website, to see the intro video they are using to promote the new building. It features a lady hanging out in her glorious apartment where a piano player plays piano for her on her grand piano.
I found this particularly humorous as I was warned against bringing in a grand piano, and told it was against the rules by a former security guard. Of course, I took it with a grain of salt.
I suppose I find humor in the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
On sunday, I literally couldn’t get in to the garbage room on the 3rd floor for the pile of refuse that some residents had decided to leave on the floor of the garbage room.
I don’t agree with this is a form of protest, although, I suspect it will be a more effective means than starting a website.
I think that some of the elevator problems are getting better. Today, unfortunately, 2 of 3 elevators were unavailable, with one being used for a move, and one out of servive at about 7:00pm.. maybe 7:15.
After waiting with a lineup of people extending out to the lobby for over 12 minutes, I decided to figure out another route to my unit.
Luckily, I live on the third floor. If you are so lucky, and the Luna elevators aren’t coming for you, head to 25 Capreole Court (Luna Vista), and your pass should work. Then, walk directly through the amenities area, up both flights of steps. You will end up spilling out into the third floor hallway.
It’s too bad there are not stairwells that we can use to get to our apartments, like in most other buildings. Is this the same throughout Cityplace?
Somehow, I doubt this problem will fix itself.
Every year, I enter the Princess Margaret Welcome Home sweepstakes. It’s a great way to support cancer research, and as a bonus, you have a very good chance of winning a prize, and a small chance of winning a new home or car.
If you would like to support cancer research, but have accepted the downward spiral that is rational egoism, this is a fun way to do it. Just click here!
Seriously, you’re not gonna live forever. Taking a grand out of your retirement fund gets you 12 chances to win a house, and gets someone else a chance to live to retirement.
As a side note, fourth prize is a Cityplace condominium!
It appears, at least anecdotally, that the management claims that it is a health code violation to smoke on the building roof (which will result in us having our amenities taken away from us) is actually a veiled threat wrapped in a lie.
It turns out that many other buildings in the city actually provide ash-trays and other devices for smokers on their rooftops.
As a non-smoker, I’m not personally affected by this, but it’s yet another example of management confronting resident complaints with lies and propaganda, instead of an attempt to satisfy the residents who pay their salaries.
I’m offended.
I also cannot believe that I am only allowed to have 2 guests to a barbecue. Does anyone think this is reasonable?
I’m not sure if this is considered normal in downtown condominiums, but we’ve been restricted to two guests per resident if we are using shared facilities, and it is enforced on the rooftop deck by a sign-in sheet and a security guard.
Downward spiral anyone?
I didn’t get a photograph of the notice yet, but I’ll post it later.
On another note, I ran into “Howard the Condo Man” on the deck who says that there will not be a 43 storey tower going in on the block south of ours.
I have not yet seen any rezoning applications to support this assertion.
Update: Here is a photo of the notice:

Any ideas on how I might be “found” to have more than 2 guests? Who is the judge?
Ridiculous.
I came across this application to zone the block just south of the Luna building for a 43 storey affordable housing project. Talk around the water cooler says that there will be no 43 storey building blocking our southern view, but I haven’t seen any evidence that is true.
Here is the preliminary rezoning report, dated a year ago.
Should I be celebrating that I opted not to buy my unit? I can’t imagine that housing in a modern building at a third of the cost won’t lower the overall value of real estate in the neighbourhood.
As someone who works in finance, some of the buildings I work in are high-security. It occurred to me today that if the elevator security devices were enabled in Luna, the security level in this building would be very good.. in fact, somewhat close to the security level in a high-security network center.
By contrast, let’s contrast what it’s like to try to access an equipment cage at a major Carrier hotel in Toronto.
